Truckee Community Theater, with tongue firmly in cheek, presents the melodrama “Left in the Wicker Basket” 7 p.m. Saturday, March 10, at the Truckee Community Arts Center.

Twenty-one talented actors star in this one-act play full of double entendres and comic asides, directed by Courtney Simson.

The story concerns identical twins who are heirs to a fortune, a greedy businessman determined to thwart events so that he ends up with their inheritance, a devious school mistress trying to divert the wealth to her own offspring, and, of course, the hero — an addlepated Pony Express employee, determined to deliver a missing piece of a letter that will solve the entire mix-up.

Act Two will feature an audience sing-a-long, featuring some of the most popular tunes of the Gay ’90s, some solo performances, special appearances by Richard Blair and his Can Can dancers and Truckee’s only female barbershop group, the Mountain Belles. At the end of Act Two, patrons will be treated to a sneak preview of Truckee Community Theater’s upcoming contemporary comedy.

Doors open at 6 p.m. with pre-show music provided by popular local band, “Forget the Roses.” Tickets may be purchased in advance online at http://www.truckeecommunitytheater.com, or at the door. Tickets include a glass of wine, beer, or non-alcoholic beverage.
