The Parasol Tahoe Community Foundation is pleased to announce Kern Schumacher as our 2015 Community Philanthropist of the Year.

Kern was selected as Parasol’s 2015 Community Philanthropist of the Year because he exemplifies the spirit of philanthropy through his generosity and involvement in charitable causes.

Kern’s support of the Incline Village Community Hospital Foundation through contributions and fundraising efforts has been invaluable for the past seven years.

Kern also has been able to bring together people in the community to mobilize resources for different causes. His efforts to raise private funding for the Incline to Sand Harbor Bike Path made a difference for the Tahoe Fund to bring a world-class bike path to the eastern shore of Tahoe.

He graciously offers his beautiful home to organizations he believes in for fundraising efforts whether it is to allow a piano savant an opportunity to perform for an intimate group or invite 600 for lunch and a fashion show.

The annual Oscar de la Renta Fashion Show for The League to Save Lake Tahoe at his home is already sold out for the August event.

Kern’s passion for charitable causes is the spirit of philanthropy that enriches our community.

He continues to go above and beyond to make a difference. Parasol is pleased to extend the heartfelt thank you of our community to Kern Schumacher.

Jean Eick is the Communications Manager for the Parasol Tahoe Community Foundation.
